Centro Habana is a non-touristic area, great for those visitors wishing to experience the perspective of the real Cuban’s daily life. It’s the first expansion of the city outside the colonial limits, so the historic continuity if you has been already in Old Havana. Inside our collective consciousness, it represents the republican Habana after 1900. A great option to meet the people with no filter.

Sights
  • The Capitolio Nacional:The Capitol of Havana held the Congress of the Cuban Republic since 1929. After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, it was converted in the seat of the Cuban Science Academy. Recently, it has been renovated as the seat of the Cuban Parliament and reopened for public visitors.
  • Parque de la Fraternidad Latinoamericana:Decorated with statues of the most important latin american leaders, a big baobab in the center symbolize the strength and unity of the Latin American people.
  • Chinatown:Founded by the first Chinese immigrants arriving from California during the XIX Century.
  • Virgin Mary’s Church: Dedicated to Virgin Mary, saint pattern of the Cuban People.

  • Hospital hermanos Ameijeiras: Inaugurated in 1982 in the same building where the National Bank of Cuba used to operate previous to the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. One of the best hospital of its kind in Cuba and the world, also a great exponent of the prestigious Cuban healthcare’s system.

  • Paladar La Guarida: One of the first private restaurants in Havana opened during the 1990s. Also famous for being one of the locations of the cuban film “Fresa y Chocolate” (Strawberry and Chocolat) in 1994. Visited by celebrities as Jack Nicholson, Rihanna, Robert de Niro, Colin Farrel and many others. The terrace also provides one of the best views of Centro Habana.
  • The University of Havana: Founded in 1728, this institution is one of the most important education centers in the Cuban Society. As every school in the country, the admission is totally free for Cuban students. This university was also an essential spot for the revolutionary movements leaded by students as Julio Antonio Mella during the 1920s and Jose Antonio Echeverria during the 1950s.
  • The Centro Habana Tours finish in the morning tour at Plaza de la Revolucion, and in the afternoon in the National Hotel.
